Clearing the Lines and Securing Our Future
RELEASE|December 11, 2025

This week, the House Energy Committee took action to improve the reliability of Michigan’s electrical grid and safeguard the energy choices of our communities. These common-sense bills are the direct result of our commitment to ensuring reliable, affordable power for every Michigan family.

First, we moved a crucial bill to allow clearer and more effective vegetation management around power lines. Power outages are far too frequent in our state, and one of the primary culprits is unchecked tree growth. Our proposal will empower electric service providers to finally manage tree trimming programs effectively. This is a practical, immediate step to stop preventable outages and protect our homes and businesses.

Second, the Committee passed legislation which prohibits local municipalities from banning natural gas, propane, or the infrastructure required to deliver them. The idea that a city, village, or township could arbitrarily strip residents of their affordable, reliable energy source is an assault on commonsense. Natural gas provides cost-effective heating and cooking for countless families. This bill ensures that these energy sources remain available to Michigan residents.

These votes are just the beginning, signaling a fundamental shift in Lansing. They demonstrate dedication to a balanced, “all-of-the-above” energy abundance strategy—one that places reliability and affordability above job-killing mandates.

I’m also proud to announce that after more than a year of hard work, research, and meetings, I’m leading the charge on the next major phase of this commitment: Project Lighthouse. This bold initiative is my comprehensive blueprint designed to repeal the destructive and expensive policies that have made utility bills unaffordable for hardworking Michigan families.

Keep your eyes open. Project Lighthouse is coming, and if enacted, will finally bring Michigan’s energy policy out of the dark and into a new era of reliability and prosperity.
