State Rep. Ann Bollin, R-Brighton Township, today issued the following statement in response to the governor’s Road Ahead address:

“Gov. Whitmer paints a picture of a prosperous future for Michigan, but the truth is, the road behind us has been anything but smooth. Instead of fixing the very roads that our families and workers rely on, the governor has steered Michigan taxpayers down a bumpy path — spending billions of dollars on corporate handouts that don’t even address the real needs of Michigan’s families and workers. Worse, these investments have come with little accountability, leaving taxpayers stuck with the bill while corporate giants walk away with huge incentives and, in some cases, cut promised jobs after receiving our money.

“Thankfully, House Republicans are going to put the brakes on reckless spending and help steer Michigan toward a future with real solutions. We’ve put forward a comprehensive plan that focuses on fixing and upgrading our local and county roads without raising taxes. This plan will cut government waste and ensure that more goes toward the much-needed repairs that Michigan drivers are desperately waiting for.

“The road ahead doesn’t have to be as bumpy as the one we’ve traveled. With Republicans leading the charge in the House, we’re focused on repairing the damage and making sure Michigan’s future is built on accountability, common-sense solutions, and real investments that benefit everyone.”
