RICHMOND, MI — State Representative Jaime Greene today presented a special tribute commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department’s historic 1925 American LaFrance Pumper fire engine.
The 1925 pumper, once considered state-of-the-art, faithfully served the Richmond for five decades. Its preservation stands as a testament to the enduring dedication and courage of Richmond’s firefighters, past and present.
“This historic fire engine is more than just a piece of equipment, it represents the generations of brave men and women who have answered the call to protect lives and property in our community,” said Greene. “As we celebrate this centennial milestone, we honor not only the legacy of the 1925 American LaFrance pumper but also the proud tradition of service that defines the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department.”
The tribute recognizes the fire department’s century-long commitment to safeguarding the Richmond community and surrounding areas, in addition to highlighting how the preservation of the 1925 pumper honors the past while inspiring future generations of first responders.
“Richmond’s volunteer firefighters have built a foundation of integrity, service, and sacrifice that continues to make our community stronger,” Greene added. “Their legacy is one of courage and compassion, a legacy that deserves to be celebrated and remembered.”
