State Rep. Ron Robinson, R-Utica, supported the road plan to reallocate existing funds and direct them to fix local roads. The House moved the Republican plan forward to fund our roads without increasing the costs for taxpayers.
“I am proud to support a plan that prioritizes repairing our local roads without increasing costs for taxpayers,” said Robinson. “With the rising cost of everyday living, our residents simply cannot afford to pay more. And they certainly cannot afford blowing out a tire on their way to work.”
The plan will dedicate an additional $3.1 billion to fixing our broken infrastructure every year without raising taxes. By reallocating existing funds in the state budget and ensuring that all taxes paid at the pump are directed into roads, this plan will prioritize all roads, not just our interstates. This ensures that communities are receiving the necessary funding to fix their neighborhood streets and local roads that lead to the highways.
The plan will increase funding in Macomb County by the following:
- Macomb County: Increase by $89,574,600
- Sterling Heights: Increase by $22,978,800
- Utica: Increase by $883,000
- Warren: $25,990,900
“Fixing the roads and bolstering our infrastructure has been my number one priority prior to becoming a State Representative,” said Robinson. “This is the first step towards bringing the real change that Michigan needs to buck the trends of previous decades. That’s why I am committed to making sure the state follows through. This plan provides the framework for countless overdue projects all across the state.”
