State Rep. Doug Wozniak, R-Shelby Township, on Wednesday supported the road plan to reallocate existing funds and direct them to fix local roads. The House moved the Republican plan forward to fund road maintenance and repairs without increasing taxes.
“Our plan will finally deliver the results Michigan residents have been waiting for,” said Wozniak. “For years, we’ve talked about fixing our roads. Taxes keep going up, but the roads never seem to improve. It’s time to put an end to wasteful spending and start giving Michigan drivers the safe, reliable roads they deserve.”
The plan will allocate an additional $3.1 billion annually to fix crumbling infrastructure without raising taxes. By redirecting existing budget funds and ensuring that all taxes paid at the pump go directly to road improvements, this plan prioritizes the critical repairs for local roads. This ensures that communities are receiving funding necessary to fix neighborhood streets and improve daily commutes.
“Macomb County residents should be able to get to work without dodging pothole after pothole,” said Wozniak. “People across Michigan deserve safe, reliable roads to get from point A to point B. I’m proud to support a plan that delivers real results for our state.”
