Small business owners who have worked in our state for decades could’ve had to close their doors and potentially even move out of state to conduct ongoing business. Our plan may not be perfect, but I’m glad we could stop the damage that was coming.”

“While today marks a significant victory, there is no time to celebrate. Crucial decisions are still needed as stringent mandates threatening our small businesses are set to take effect Friday at 12:01 a.m. unless legislative measures are taken. These impending rules would allow employees to miss up to three days of work without notification and still be shielded from termination.”

“When we announced our common-sense plan to fix the roads without raising taxes, I really hoped the governor would see the sensibility behind it and come to the negotiating table with fiscal responsibility in mind; that isn’t what happened,” said Johnsen, R-Portland. “The governor may have joined the road funding conversation, but her proposal was anything but serious.
